"The village red 2018 Sensal is a blend of grapes from four different plots of old vines planted with traditional varieties of the zone; Monastrell and Bonicaire fermented together, Arcos and 15% Garnacha fermented separately and matured in tinaja (amphora) and glass demijohns. It doesn't have Garnacha Tintorera anymore, so it's quite different from the 2017 and it's more agile. It has 13% alcohol and a medium body. But after all, it's darker and earthier than the 2019 that I also tasted next to it. It might be the rustic, tree bark-like character of Monastrell, slightly meaty and smoky. It's a step ahead of the 2017, but after tasting the 2019, it feels like the 2019 has one extra degree of finesse and definition. The palate reveals more tannins and in general feels darker. 2,600 bottles were filled in July 2019."
